Modern management of business and industrial processes requires extensive integration of the entire factory and its computer system. It is now a benchmark of industrial process control automation and unification level. This can be achieved by introducing a wide computerization of production processes along with connecting individual units through specialized industrial networks. Moreover, it is important to use the software to effectively monitor a large number of nodes in an accessible and clear manner, also in accordance with modern supervision requirements (including ISO9000 standards) – through data storage and advanced procedures for quality industrial processes testing.

The laboratory of industrial networks and integrated control (so far conducted at the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science) aims to familiarize students with these modern technologies. The first area of ​​study is the construction, application and programming of industrial networks, intelligent building networks, vehicle networks and wireless industrial networks.

Particular attention should be paid to real-time industrial networks and industrial operating systems. The second area of ​​education is the construction, application, programming of visualization and supervisory controls supporting packages (SCADA), visualization systems and related problems of control safety, administration and security of network systems in industrial conditions. An additional element is to familiarize students with software and systems supporting enterprise resource management, workflow coordination, production management and work quality analysis, which is performed by special software: BPM, MES, ERP packages, etc.

The employees of the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science have been teaching this field for many years. The department was one of the first in Poland in which classes on SCADA systems were introduced as a teaching subject. The ITC project enables the expansion of the educational base and the purchase of modern computers and industrial controllers along with appropriate, very expensive software. The content of the classes makes it necessary to use very expensive industrial networks between many workstations on which the simulation of industrial processes is carried out.

  • programming of industrial networks,
  • intelligent programming of construction networks,
  • programming of vehicle networks (belonging to various classes: diagnostic, control, multimedia, safety systems and real-time automotive devices),
  • industrial wireless networks,
  • administration a and the safety of network systems in industrial conditions.
